命命

命命(mìng mìng)　　(name of a kind of pheasant (or partridge), a literal translation of Skt. jīvakajīvaka, name of a bird, a kind of pheasant. The bird utters a cry sounding like jīva jīva(Skt. jīva means 　“life”), therefore it is named jīvajīvaka, jīvaṃjīvaka, jīvakajīvaka, and so on.)
